Jesus’ ffirst public miracle was at the wedding feast of Cana. 

The wedding party had run out of wine and Jesus’ mother Mary, requests of him 

that he do something to help them. Our Lord changes six very large water jugs

into the most delicious wine. The best wine is usually served first and the inferior wine later. This is a miracle of fruitful abundance, performed at a ceremony of 

great hope and joy, a wedding feast!

Christ’s turning the water into wine is a forshadowing of his miracle at the last supper. Jesus knows what is to befall him in a matter of hours.Before being falsely arrested, tortured and cruciffied, he leaves behind his ffinal gift, that of his very self. He transforms the bread and wine into his body, blood, soul and divinity,

food for our eternal life.
