THE FLOWERING OF JESUS, THE CARPENTER’S SON

Acrylic on museum quality masonite, 16 x 20”, artist selected ornate gold frame

The Greek lettering surrounding the Mandorla is from the Gospel of Luke 2;40.

“AND THE LITTLE CHILD GREW AND BECAME STRONG IN SPIRIT, BEING FILLED WITH WISDOM AND THE GRACE OF GOD WAS UPON HIM”

The Christchild holds the hammer because he is the ‘carpenter's son’, but more importantly because he willingly takes up his mission, full knowing what awaits him in order to redeem humanity. The lilies symbolize Christ’s purity and

the poppies his sacrifice.
